From those early days it was clear that her passion for the horses would come to define her in many ways. With much success in the jumper ranks in her junior years and early professional results as a trainer, Katie gained valuable experiences and and expanded her knowledge not only of horses but also the equestrian business, specifically in the main Olympic sports of Dressage, eventing, and show jumping.
Today, her passion has led her back into horses in many ways, as a coach, a trainer, and of course in her role with TSHI.
Trainer
From a young age, George Russell had an interest not only in training horses but in truly understanding them and finding solutions to the barriers that were holding them back from their full potential. George has an innate ability to look at a young undeveloped animal and see what lies beneath the outward appearance and how to bring them along to make them reach the highest heights.George has helped countless horses in this manner, most notably Kool Cavalier with whom George was selected for both the Junior and Senior European Championships and Young Man, the pair competed at the 5* level including Luhmuhlen5* and were selected for senior high-performance squads.
George has produced, competed and sold on numerous horses that have gone on to be very successful both at the highest levels of the sport and as invaluable amateur mounts. George developed Dunrath Star who went on to compete in the European Championships. Barraduff went on represent Italy at the Olympic Games, the World Equestrian Games, and two European Championships. The Deputy went on to represent New Zealand and finished 5th in the Burghley Horse Trials which is said to be the toughest 5* competition in the world.
Through his vast collection of experiences in training, breeding, and competing, George has developed an excellent training program for bringing horses from their very first rides to the top echelons of horse sport. Every horse that has passed through Georges hands has taught him something about producing a quality animal. Whether it is a horse’s temperament, breeding, type or conformation George is able to assess all these qualities and come up with a plan that will work for that individual

John started riding as a teenager, trying his hand in the riding school circuit, hunting fields, and hunter trials. It wasn’t until he met a young George Russell that he entered into the exciting world of eventing and show jumping on the Irish national circuit. George showed John a whole new way of approaching the sport and horses in general. The way George operated was different to how almost everybody else did it, and he quickly became one of Georges biggest fans. A friendship developed which has lasted a lifetime. John would say he never has seen George get angry with a horse and has never taken it out on a horse when things go wrong. He puts considerable time into bonding with his horses, often using his voice and gentle touch to settle young horses. They share the same philosophy- that there is no rushing or taking shortcuts, and that time is the greatest factor in producing young horses.
Owner TSHI
With horses, there is no rushing or taking shortcuts, SUCCESS comes from thoughtful, consistent training, and most of all PATIENCE & UNDERSTANDING.
